Marie Antoinette

I just saw Marie Antoinette on Sky+ Anytime. What a dreadful movie. I cannot believe it was directed by Sophia Coppola as she directed the Virgin Suicides which Kirsten Dunst also starred in, and I was bawling like a baby over that one. But then she was also Mary in Godfather III. Godfather III contains one of my favourite quotes from Al Pacino as Michael Corleone "just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in." Now whilst I loved Andy Garcia as Vincent Corleone, Sophia's Mary Corleone was from the Ikea school of acting.

There was a different take on this, as all the music was so 20th century (the Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, New Order). Just as an aside, I went to see the Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees in concert in 1986 in London. The worst concert I ever dragged my ass to was The Smiths (still love the music) on the Pier in NY in 1986. There was almost a riot they were so bad.

I read the review on Empire and the reviewer must have seen a different film than I did, otherwise I wasn't chemically altered. The costumes were beautiful and the food and drink made me wish I had eat-o-vision. I cannot even muster up the enthusiasm to review it any further.

Enough said!
