The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - David Fincher version

Taken as a stand alone film, it is excellent. Taken as a remake of the original Swedish version, it is ok, not great. It is difficult, if you have seen the original not to compare the two. There are many scenes which are taken almost directly from the original.

What I really didn't like is the sentimentality of the remake, although I have been told that this is in the book. Lisbeth is such a strong, uncompromising character because of what has happened to her, I find it very difficult to believe Lisbeth would think that Blomqvist was the answer to her issues, even briefly.

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are excellent as is Skarsgaard. I do hope they decide to make the other two films otherwise it feels like a damp squib.

If you haven't seen the Swedish version, I think you will enjoy more.
